Responsibilities
- Install, administer, maintain, and monitor Server Hardware in the GN production network environment
- Install, administer, maintain and monitor applications and programs including but not limited to Microsoft Standard/Enterprise Server 2003 (and newer versions), Microsoft Exchange server 2010 (and newer versions) and Microsoft/Citrix Terminal server in the GN production network environment. Have experience in maintaining and administering VMware and Microsoft Virtual Servers
- Install, administer, maintain and monitor various network applications and programs including Computer Associates Brightstar Backup software, Symantec anti-virus central server and spam software and all printing software in the GN production network environment
- Install and test upgrades to applications, programs and databases including service packs, patches, hot fixes and releases in a UAT/Test environment
- Handle a variety of Tier 2-3 trouble tickets
- Provide mentoring and elevated support (Tier
2) to Tier 1 Technicians, Regional Technicians and a variety of end user departments specifically in support of these GN production applications and programs - Provide communities with phone or remote support using administration tools provided by the GN. There may also be travel to communities outside of Iqaluit.
- Create technical documentation and edit and test vendor provided documentation
- Provide expertise on identified internal IPS projects relating to the GN IT infrastructure
- Contribute to the postmortem analysis following any assigned project completion
- Perform the daily IMIT Status Report (ISR). Monitor server disk space, performance and tuning. Work with Computer Associates Brightstar backup and restore schedules. Troubleshoot various network issues and install printing drivers and troubleshoot printing issues.
- Create end user accounts and domain groups for the GN network and archive user accounts that have vacated the GN. Apply security permissions to groups and folder structures as needed.
- Degree in Computer Science or IT related diploma/degree
- Minimum 3-5+ years of experience in the below mentioned responsibilities
- Related Industry Certifications, for example, Microsoft, ITIL, Network +, Novell, HP and Dell
- Proven ability to administer and manage a medium to large Microsoft Windows network environment
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
- Excellent writing and documentation skills
- High level of organizational skills
