Lead. Influence. Build the Future of Connectivity in Nunavut.

We are seeking an experienced, relationship-driven individual to represent Northwestel as our Director, Nunavut Strategy & Partnerships based in Iqaluit and deeply connected to the people, communities, and future of Nunavut.

This is a rare opportunity to help shape the territory's digital future while strengthening relationships with governments, Inuit organizations, business leaders, and communities across Nunavut. As Northwestel's senior representative in the territory, you will play a pivotal role in advancing strategic initiatives, identifying growth opportunities, and ensuring Nunavummiut benefit from reliable, future-ready connectivity infrastructure and services.

In this highly visible leadership role, you will:

  • Build and strengthen trusted relationships with territorial, federal, municipal, and Inuit partners.
  • Represent Northwestel on strategic initiatives that influence telecommunications policy, investment, and economic development.
  • Help advance transformative projects that improve connectivity across Nunavut, including broadband expansion, next-generation satellite solutions, and future infrastructure investments.
  • Support Inuit employment, community partnerships, and economic participation opportunities throughout the territory.
  • Drive business growth by identifying and pursuing opportunities with government, Indigenous, and enterprise customers.
  • Provide strategic insight to Northwestel's executive team on regional priorities, opportunities, and emerging issues.

The ideal candidate is a respected relationship builder with a deep understanding of Nunavut's political, cultural, and economic landscape. You have experience working with governments, Inuit organizations, and communities, and are passionate about creating long-term benefits for Nunavummiut.

The ability to speak, read, and write Inuktitut is highly desirable and will be considered a significant asset. Candidates with strong ties to Nunavut and established relationships throughout the territory are strongly encouraged to apply.

What You'll Bring
  • Experience in government relations, public affairs, business development, strategic partnerships, or a related leadership role.
  • A proven ability to influence, negotiate, and build trusted relationships.
  • Experience working with Indigenous governments, organizations, and communities.
  • Knowledge of Nunavut's unique opportunities, priorities, and operating environment.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Fluency in Inuktitut is considered a significant asset.
