The roles of Camp Counselor are being hired through the Wage Subsidy - Canada Summer Jobs.
The role of Camp Counsellor will be full-time (37.5 hours weekly) temporary positions, spanning over the course of 12 weeks, from your start date.
CSJ Wage Subsidy Requirements- Must be between the ages of 15-30 years old
- Either a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Hold a local address to Iqaluit, Nunavut
As one of our Summer Camp Counselors, you will assist our team in delivering high quality learning experiences. You will also hone your social media skills, posting photos accompanied by short text blocks, to our internal shareables. As a member of our delivery team, you’ll be a public face of the programming we deliver and an ambassador of the work we do.
Responsibilities- Support the planning and delivery of our full day, in-person, week‑long camps at our Iqaluit Makerspace location.
- Support the planning and delivery of our half day, virtual, week‑long camps.
- Ensure the group of assigned campers is supervised and safe at all times.
- Ensure all equipment/supplies are in safe working order before and after each day of camp.
- Clean and disinfect Makerspace and equipment.
- Help to manage campers’ behavior using age‑appropriate behavior management techniques.
- Take campers on field trips with the support of other staff members.
- Capture and share delivery events through photos and videos to Pinnguaq’s internal Slack channel #success stories-and-sharables.
- Confirm photo release permissions are on file for all campers in any photo, before sharing internally and externally.
- Foster an environment wherein participants have the best camp experience and are challenged in a positive, growth‑minded manner.
- Represent the Pinnguaq Association in a respectful and sensitive manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Experience working with children would be an asset.
- Comfortable learning new technology and digital tools.
- Good decision making and problem solving skills.
- Work as a collaborative and versatile team player.
- Basic First Aid certification is an asset.
- For those 18 years or older, a Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) will be a condition of the employment offer.

The approval for the acceptance of a VSS lies with our People and Culture Team and Management. Please ensure the VSS has not been over six months since completion and that you are completing it in the correct region.
