Accounting Specialist AP Iron Mountain, MI

Description We are looking for an Accounting Specialist AP to join our team in Iron Mountain, Michigan for a Long-term Contract position. In this onsite role, you will support day-to-day accounts payable operations, help keep financial records accurate, and work closely with internal teams and suppliers to address payment and invoice issues. This opportunity is well suited for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced accounting environment.

Responsibilities:

- Review and enter supplier invoices into the accounting system to ensure timely and accurate payment processing.

- Match invoices with purchase orders and receiving documentation, and investigate exceptions to complete three-way matching requirements.

- Coordinate with purchasing, receiving, and other departments to resolve pricing, receipt, or documentation discrepancies.

- Obtain the necessary approvals and assign correct accounting codes for service-related invoices and other non-purchase-order payments.

- Prepare vouchers for payment, maintain organized electronic records, and support consistent document retention practices.

- Reconcile vendor statements, respond to supplier questions, and escalate unresolved issues when needed.

- Assist with weekly accounts payable activities as well as audit requests, month-end support, project costing tasks, and other assigned projects. Requirements - At least two years of office experience, including at least one year supporting accounting or accounts payable functions.

- Associate degree in accounting preferred.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook, with strong attention to detail.

- Experience with data entry and invoice processing in an ERP or accounting system;
Syte Line experience is a plus.

- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with suppliers, employees, and business partners.

- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy in handling financial information.

- Demonstrated problem-solving ability and capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in an onsite environment.
