Bay de Noc Community College is seeking qualified applicants to teach in-person Introduction to Sociology courses at the Iron Mountain, MI campus. Instructors are responsible for establishing and promoting an effective learning environment to maximize student learning. Instructors may be assigned to teach introductory and general courses in traditional classroom/labs, hybrid, or online settings as needed. We may also have options to teach the Bay College Introduction to Sociology courses at local high schools.
Minimum Qualifications- Master’s degree or higher (or 18 graduate level credits) in sociology OR Master’s degree in a sociology-related field (social work, counseling, etc.) with a minimum of 2 years in a relevant clinical field.
- Experience teaching sociology courses at the college level
- Commitment to quality instruction in a learner-centered environment with the goal of consistently improving student success
- Commitment to the community college mission and philosophy
- Ability to provide diverse teaching and learning approaches to diverse student populations
- Demonstrated skill in effective written and oral communications
- Demonstrated literacy in information technology and computer use
- Commit to value, respect, and provide an equitable learning experience in an inclusive, welcoming environment; standing against discrimination or harassment to educate all students regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, veteran or military status, or other protected status.
- Experience in teaching courses at the post-secondary level, preferably in a community college setting
- Experience with active and collaborative learning strategies
