Production Manager, Operations Engineer
Job Description
Vertiv is currently looking to hire a new Materials Planner in Ironton, Ohio to join our team. This employee will exemplify great organization skills, communication skills, and an ability to work in a fast‑paced environment while providing excellent production support for internal and external customers with respect to inventory.
Responsibilities- Manage and develop a stable run strategy of assigned products to optimize production, inventory, and efficiency.
- Communicate daily and weekly plans with the production team.
- Ensure change‑over times, standard hours, rates, and demonstrated capacity are accurately reflected in daily, weekly, and monthly plans.
- Interface with Engineering to establish high‑level forecasts and schedules.
- Ensure all parts required for production are ordered internally or outsourced through suppliers.
- Ensure the material needed for production is available and reported accurately in the system.
- Create shop orders in IFS to fulfill production needs.
- Issue material upon completion of the process.
- Close out shop orders and report completed jobs to the system.
- Coordinate with department leaders regarding material shortages or needs.
- Coordinate with purchasing regarding external orders.
- Coordinate with the material team regarding material requirements and deliveries.
- Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly reports as needed.
- Apply 5S techniques to workspace and inventory storage.
- Maintain knowledge of products and parts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or GED.
- 3–5 years of experience.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a stockroom, warehousing, or inventory movement.
- BS in Business Administration preferred.
- Knowledge of MPR (Manufacturing Resource Planning).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
- Detail‑oriented.
- Ability to work and multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.
- Knowledge of shipping methods and ability to choose the best and most economical option.
- Decision‑making and organizational skills.
- Positive attitude and team‑work orientation.
- Conflict‑resolution skills.
- Initiative and eagerness to pursue self‑development and additional responsibilities.
- Ability to mentor and coach colleagues.
