Position:

An exciting opportunity for an additional full time AFC Band 5 Staff Nurse has arisen within our existing alcohol and drug service at Ward 5, Woodland View, Ayrshire Central Hospital.

Hours:

32.16 hours per week.

72hrs over a fortnight. A flexible approach towards shift patterns is essential i.e. day shifts, night shifts and weekends.

This post is a permanent position.

What you will do:

In collaboration with the patient, Ward 5 delivers intensive, holistic and, inter disciplinary treatment and care, in an environment underpinned by recovery. Care and treatment offered is person centred and trauma informed. Length of stay is appropriate to clinical need(s). Each individual in the care of Ward 5 have complex addiction and mental health issues.

You will assist with the implementation of the existing model of care within the addictions unit at Woodland View facility at Ayrshire Central Hospital. You will be RMN qualified. We are looking to recruit 1 staff member to the team who is motivated and forward thinking to deliver specialist assessment, detoxification and recovery focused interventions to service users. Ideally you will be able to demonstrate group work skills within an inpatient setting.

Knowledge,

training and/or experience required for this post:

Qualifications:
  • First Level Registered Nurse in Mental Health
Knowledge
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of alcohol and drug treatments.
  • Knowledge and awareness of mental health and addiction related issues.
  • Knowledge and awareness of detoxification from alcohol withdrawal/treatments
  • IT skills

Previous experience within Addictions or complex mental health assessment would be advantageous.

A genuine interest in working with persons experiencing addiction and mental health problems is essential and experience of working within an addiction setting or role is highly desirable.

You will work as a key component of a multidisciplinary team and, as such, should have excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills along with a positive attitude and a proven ability to work as part of a team.
