We’re recruiting an R&D Product Development Technologist to join our client’s team on a permanent basis. Whether your experience is in laboratory testing, product formulation or research and development, this is a great opportunity to build your skills and contribute to the development of new products, from initial testing through to launch.

Responsibilities in your new role as an R&D Product Technologist

Working as part of the R&D team, you will help develop and improve products from the initial idea through to launch. You will support Product Technologists and Formulation Chemists with preparing samples, testing product performance and carrying out stability testing, while following health and safety procedures and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. Your key responsibilities will include:

* Supporting the development of new products and formulations, ensuring they are cost-effective, meet deadlines and comply with relevant regulations.

* Assisting with product development from initial laboratory testing through to full-scale manufacturing.

* Working closely with teams across Production, Engineering, Purchasing, Quality Assurance and Health and Safety.

* Preparing product samples and carrying out laboratory and pilot-scale testing using a range of equipment.

* Helping to improve existing products and processes, including the efficient use of raw materials and packaging.

* Supporting the wider R&D team with new product development projects and changing business requirements.

Your personality, experience and qualifications

you will ideally have a Degree in Chemistry, an HNC or equivalent practical experience, along with previous experience working in a chemical laboratory. Knowledge of laboratory equipment, such as viscometers, pH meters and solids testing equipment, would be an advantage. You should also have good English communication skills. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

* A good understanding of chemistry and practical laboratory procedures.

* Experience preparing product samples and carrying out stability testing, ideally within an FMCG or manufacturing environment.

* Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.

* A proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to use your initiative.

* Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

* A flexible, motivated attitude with a willingness to learn and support new product development projects.
