Position SummaryYou are a seasoned Underwriter with a passion for coaching and elevating others. We’re seeking a Corporate Operations Trainer with deep underwriting expertise to build and lead our Underwriter Upskill Certification Program from the ground up. This onsite position is based in our Santa Ana corporate office.
Key Responsibilities- Design and lead a multi‑week Underwriter Upskill Program, including test file reviews, system training, and file coaching.
- Develop detailed learning paths, skill checklists, and knowledge assessments to certify readiness.
- Deliver live classroom and virtual training on Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, and Non‑QM guidelines and risk review.
- Build Blue Sage LOS training workflows and integrate real file scenarios into development.
- Collaborate with Credit Risk, Compliance, and UW Managers to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Track learner progress and communicate readiness‑to‑go‑live with leadership and managers.
- Maintain job aids, SOPs, and role‑specific onboarding materials.
- 5+ years of Mortgage Underwriting experience (DE/SAR/LAPP preferred).
- Experience training or mentoring underwriters or coaching others into underwriting roles.
- Strong knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, and Non‑QM guidelines.
- Familiarity with Blue Sage or similar LOS systems.
- Clear communicator with excellent facilitation skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work onsite full‑time at our Santa Ana, CA corporate office.
- Previous experience developing structured upskill or certification programs.
- Instructional design or training certifications.
- Knowledge of Click Up or project/task management tools.
The starting base pay range for this position is $80k/annually. The actual base is dependent on many factors such as work experience, business needs, market demands, and other compensation components. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
