Job Description & How to Apply Below

We’re looking for an experienced Superintendent to lead the field execution of commercial construction projects for Morris Construction.

At Morris, our Superintendents run one project at a time and work closely with a dedicated project team, giving them the ability to stay focused on the job, make an impact in the field, and deliver the level of service our repeat clients expect.

We’re looking for someone who knows how to run a jobsite, drive the schedule, hold subcontractors accountable, solve problems before they become delays, and deliver a high-quality project from mobilization through closeout.

Projects are primarily located throughout Southern California, with occasional travel depending on project needs.

What You’ll Own

As Superintendent, you’ll be the day-to-day leader of the jobsite and the primary field representative for Morris Construction. You’ll work closely with the Project Manager, Project Engineer, and Project Coordinator, and report to the VP of Operations.

You’ll be responsible for keeping the project moving safely, efficiently, and according to plan—from mobilization through closeout.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Own the project schedule in the field, identify potential delays early, and work proactively to maintain or improve project milestones.
  • Lead daily field operations and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, deliveries, inspections, and owner-provided work.
  • Build the project in accordance with the plans, specifications, approved submittals, RFIs, and other contract documents.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional jobsite at all times.
  • Set clear expectations with subcontractors and hold them accountable for schedule, quality, safety, and coordination.
  • Prepare and maintain three-week look-ahead schedules and communicate upcoming work to the project team and subcontractors.
  • Lead weekly foreman meetings focused on schedule, coordination, safety, and upcoming activities.
  • Complete accurate daily reports and maintain thorough photo documentation of the project.
  • Own quality on your site. Identify issues early, require quality installations, and drive toward a minimal punch list at project completion.
  • Review construction documents for constructability issues, incomplete information, conflicts, and potential design concerns, and communicate them to the project team.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager and Project Engineer to ensure materials, submittals, information, and decisions are available when needed.
  • Maintain accurate as-built drawings throughout the project.
  • Coordinate inspections, punch-list completion, owner training, certificates of occupancy, and other closeout requirements.
  • Build strong working relationships with owners, architects, subcontractors, inspectors, and other project partners.
  • Represent Morris professionally and provide the level of service that keeps clients coming back.
What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate has:

  • Demonstrated experience independently managing construction projects in the field from mobilization through closeout.
  • Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, sequencing, scheduling, and field coordination.
  • The ability to anticipate problems, make sound field decisions, and keep work moving.
  • Strong subcontractor management and leadership skills.
  • A high standard for jobsite safety, organization, and quality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to build productive relationships with clients, design teams, subcontractors, inspectors, and internal project teams.
  • OSHA 30 certification and current CPR training, or the ability to obtain them as required.
  • A bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field is preferred but not required. Relevant field experience will be strongly considered.
