Ink Application Specialist

PositionPurpose
The Application Specialist is responsible for testing and qualifying inks with the goal of developing new applications for Roland DG hardware. Testing largely involves operating Roland DG hardware and evaluating output for quality, durability, and other key performance characteristics. The individual will test solutions recommended by the New Market Office, evaluate systems for functionality, reliability, and suitability, and provide recommendations on hardware and workflow modifications required to maximize performance.
Key Responsibilities- Strong working knowledge of inkjet hardware.
- Strong working knowledge of RIP and design software and print workflow assessment.
- Be proactive in developing new applications and workflows that fit customer needs and use them as training tools.
- Technical writing and documentation skills; respond to specific requests with documentation of process and procedures for custom applications.
- Work closely with the New Market Office to document success stories and applications.
- Present at trade shows and other events.
- Work in person on site.
- Travel up to 25%.
- Completed testing programs and reports.
- Documentation of workflow, applications, and success stories.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in printing, imaging technology, or a related field.
- Required Knowledge: Working knowledge of inkjet equipment operation; understanding of material compatibility, color management and workflow principles; ability to work closely with Sales, Marketing, Training, Event Coordinators, and Support; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work both independently and in a team.
- Experience: Arts/graphics, printing, imaging, screen printing, or commercial printing experience; recent college graduates with co‑op, internship, or related part‑time experience will be considered.
- Skills & Abilities: Operation of inkjet printing hardware and software; troubleshooting and critical thinking skills; oral and written communication; diplomacy; familiarity with existing print industry users and manufacturers; technical understanding of application software; proficiency with Photoshop, Illustrator, Corel Draw, and MS Office; ability to manage multiple projects to deadline; high energy, commitment to succeeding in a fast‑growing dynamic industry; reactive problem resolution;
team player, results oriented, professional, self‑motivated & innovative.
$70,000 – $80,000.
