An excellent locum tenens opportunity is available for a Primary Care Physician near Irvine, CA. This role is ideal for a dedicated physician who is passionate about providing comprehensive care to patients of all ages in an outpatient primary care setting. The position is looking for a physician who is either board-certified or board-eligible in Family Medicine, with a strong preference for candidates who are already licensed in California.

Position Details:

• Position: Primary Care Physician (Family Medicine)
• Location: Near Irvine, CA
• Start Date: ASAP - Ongoing
• Schedule:
  • 4 or 5 days per week
  • 8-hour shifts (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
  • No call coverage required
• Patient Load: Approximately 18-20 patients per day
• Practice Setting: Primary Care Clinic

Job Responsibilities:

• Patient Age Group: Provide care for all age groups, from children to geriatrics.
• Procedures: Perform minor in-office procedures such as cyst removal, laceration repair, and skin biopsies.
• EMR: Proficiency in Epic is highly preferred.
• Daily Schedule: 7 hours of direct patient care with 1 hour dedicated to administrative tasks.
• Local Candidates Preferred: Due to familiarity with California medical rules and regulations, local candidates within driving distance of the clinic or within California are highly preferred.

Requirements:

• Board Certification: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine (preferred but not required).
• State License: Must hold a current and unrestricted California medical license.
• Certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required).
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (Preferred).
• DEA: Must have an active DEA certificate.
• Experience: At least 6 months of recent outpatient Family Medicine primary care experience is required.
• Charting Experience: Experience with Epic EMR is strongly preferred.

Additional Job Details:

• Support Staff: Full support staff available, including practice manager, front office supervisor, medical assistants, and patient care associates. The physician will not be required to supervise any staff.
• Credentialing: The credentialing process is expected to take 4-6 weeks.
• Contract Length: Ongoing with potential for extension.
• Vaccination Requirements: Optional, not mandatory.
• Practice Environment: This position does not require any call duties, allowing you to focus on patient care during clinic hours.
