Your Role on the Team

As part of a teaching team, responsible for the supervision and care of 6 infants or 8 toddlers.

Duties include:

  • Using available resources to ensure a quality program for infants and toddlers.
  • Using developmentally appropriate curriculum and learning practices and articulating those to parents and aides.
  • Promoting good health, good nutrition and safety.
  • Providing a respectful, responsive and reciprocal relationship with each child and their family.
  • Working closely with other primary caregivers to ensure continuity of care and continuing to grow professionally.
What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a child development team, with children, parents, staff members, and community representatives in providing a quality educational program.
  • Thorough understanding of child development and the philosophy and methodology of early childhood education, as well as changes taking place in the field.
  • Ability to work with and be sensitive to a culturally diverse community. Ability to relate to children as individuals in small and large groups.
  • Ability to plan, organize and direct a challenging developmental and instructional program for infant and toddler aged children.
  • Familiarity with federal and state health safety regulations applicable to a child care facility.
  • Current First Aid and CPR cards.
  • Knowledgeable of NAYEC Accreditation Criteria.
  • Effective communication skills, both with children and adults.
  • 6 or more units of Infant Toddler coursework.
  • Child Development Teacher Permit or higher.
  • Minimum of 2 years of working in a center‑based environment.
  • Documentation of negative TB skin test.

Preferred:

  • BA degree in Child Development or related field.

Conditions:

  • This is an in person position; teachers may be assigned shifts between 7:30 AM‑6:00 PM, Monday‑Friday depending on the needs of the department.
