Primary Responsibilities
HDR seeks a Civil Engineering Lead for its Dam and Civil Works program supporting Southern California. This strategic role involves leading multi-discipline analysis and design of complex structures, including dam, levee, and civil works projects. The candidate should have experience in structural, geotechnical, and hydraulic engineering, along with project management and team mentoring skills.
The role includes project design development, planning, scheduling, evaluations, and final analysis. Projects may involve dam, spillway, outlet works, stormwater management, and other critical hydraulic and seismic structures. Familiarity with State Dam Safety standards, US Bureau of Reclamation, US Army Corps of Engineers, and FERC regulations is advantageous.
Additional Positive Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent experience
- Willingness to obtain California PE registration (multiple state/province registrations encouraged)
- 15+ years of progressive civil engineering experience in water management, structural, geotechnical, and hydraulic disciplines
- Experience with civil/structural engineering software such as SAP
2000, EAGD-SLIDE, Plaxis, LSDYNA
Required Qualifications
- At least 10 years of design experience managing civil/site projects
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Micro Station, InRoads, and other relevant software
- Project engineering and management experience
