Sr. EV Engineer (North America Quality Center - NAQC)
Hyundai America's North America Quality Center (NAQC) is the quality arm for Hyundai Motor Group (HMG)’s North American vehicle models. NAQC seeks to deliver uncompromising quality and exceed consumer expectations through its Electric Vehicle (EV) Team, and we are looking for a Senior Engineer to lead these efforts.
The PositionThe Sr. EV Engineer will focus on continuous development and enhancement of electric vehicle propulsion systems for Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia vehicles by performing field and on‑site investigations and root‑cause analysis of EV‑related issues.
What You Will Do- Lead investigations with stakeholders to identify, analyze, replicate, and resolve quality‑related issues for EV propulsion systems.
- Analyze competitors’ vehicles via benchmarking.
- Validate countermeasure software and monitor field data to track effectiveness.
- Mentor junior engineers in EV‑related affairs.
- Create and present technical reports for management.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with technologists from the R&D Center and counterpart teams.
- Collaborate with stakeholders (HMG R&D, suppliers, other quality departments) to resolve complex quality‑related issues.
- Research, procure, and maintain new technologies, tools, and methods for data acquisition and analysis.
- Provide continuous engineering support across vehicle life cycles by studying warranty analysis of current market vehicles.
- Travel up to 25% of the time, domestically and internationally.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, automotive, or related engineering.
- 7+ years of experience working with EV systems.
- QA/QC/QI experience.
- Knowledge of electric vehicle propulsion systems, including sub‑systems and principles.
- Root‑cause analysis skills.
- Working knowledge of vehicle communication networks and DAQ tools (e.g., ETAS INCA, Intrepid Vehicle Spy, Vector CAN, and Ethernet Suites).
- Experience conducting field investigations.
- Familiarity with testing, validation, research, and benchmarking activities for EV systems.
- Strong written, oral, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
