Electrical Troubleshooting & Repair Engineer
Location: Irvine, CA
Base pay range: $/yr - $/yr
Key Responsibilities- Hands-on experience in a Repair/ repair station, troubleshooting returned units that are in service.
- Perform open-box troubleshooting on circuit boards and electronic units to identify malfunctioning components.
- Conduct thermal and vibration testing, using oscilloscopes to monitor data lines and capture failure behavior.
- Prepare and submit Engineering Investigation Reports / FARs through SEM in accordance with GAC requirements.
- Learn and execute testing procedures for known product issues across multiple product lines.
- Develop new troubleshooting tests for emerging issues in both new and existing products.
- Collaborate with Project Engineers to support customer meetings and prioritize FARs to avoid AOG events.
- Work directly with GAR engineers to review technical findings and investigation progress.
- Access and analyze R-Card repair data, test results, and failure observations documented by repair stations.
- Coordinate with the Materials & Processes Lab to submit evaluation requests and interpret component-level findings.
- Collect, organize, and interpret all test data—including SIL testing, directed engineering tests, and lab analyses.
- Provide engineering-directed test and inspection instructions in R-Card to support technicians in Ogden and Dublin.
- Generate FARs in the approved GAC format, correlating component-level findings to aircraft-level faults.
- Determine atypical failure modes and recommend trend monitoring when necessary.
- Work on-site in the Customer Support Engineering office in Irvine, CA.
- Hands-on experience in a repair station, electronics repair, or troubleshooting environment.
- Strong understanding of circuit boards, electronics testing, and diagnostic tools (oscilloscopes, vibration/thermal test setups).
- Ability to analyze technical data and write clear, accurate engineering investigation reports.
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills for collaboration with global engineering and repair teams.
