PositionSummary
Mid-level Mechanical Engineer – Healthcare – Full-time – Hybrid (3 days in-office, 2 days remote) – Salary range: $120,000–$150,000.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage all phases of healthcare-focused projects from proposal development through construction completion.
- Apply advanced engineering concepts, perform complex calculations and modeling, and oversee design, specifications, and working drawings.
- Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with clients and subconsultants to deliver high-quality results.
- Apply advanced engineering concepts to solve complex HVAC and medical gas design challenges.
- Perform detailed engineering and economic calculations and modeling.
- Troubleshoot operating systems and resolve technical disputes.
- Develop specifications and construction estimates for large healthcare projects.
- Peer review large-scale designs and reports.
- Administer project budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
- Seal drawings and provide direction to design teams.
- Mentor less experienced engineers and assist with time management.
- Lead construction meetings and produce documentation including punch lists and meeting reports.
- Represent P2S at professional meetings and industry events.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Engineering (PE) License (California preferred).
- Additional certifications are a plus.
- 5–10 years of engineering design and/or project management experience.
- Strong mechanical/HVAC design capability in healthcare and acute care settings.
- Familiarity with HCAI codes and standards, FGI Guidelines, and NFPA-99.
- Comfortable presenting complex engineering concepts to clients and stakeholders.
- Project management experience is a plus.
- Microsoft Office Suite.
- AutoCAD.
- Revit.
- California Building Code.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects under pressure.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Experience maintaining strong client relationships.
