Waste Audit Technician (Part Time) – APTIM
Job OverviewAPTIM has openings for an Environmental Technician to work in a team to perform solid waste composition assessments of client waste containers ranging in size from 3 cubic yards to 40 cubic yards. These assessments typically last 1-2 days with team sizes of 2 to 5 depending on the assessment size.
Work activities include sorting solid waste using hand tools to segregate waste items by type for the purpose of assessing various types of waste including plastics, paper, cardboard, glass, food waste, and regulated materials. Assistance with separating, weighing, and inventorying items for data analysis and reporting.
Requirements: ability to bend and lift 30 pounds or less, willingness to work in Tyvek safety suits, wear required safety equipment, and ability to work on your feet up to 8 hours.
Key Responsibilities /Accountabilities- Sort solid waste into material categories including plastics, paper, cardboard, food waste, regulated waste, etc.
- Use hand tools to sort waste and lift and move items 30 pounds or less.
- Travel with the team to transfer stations, landfills, and client sites; travel may be required anywhere in the continental U.S. but primarily in the Midwest.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work well in a team, positive attitude, and willingness to travel.
- Experience in the Hazardous Waste/Solid Waste Field.
- 40‑hour Hazwoper training.
Standing 50%, Walking 20%, Sitting 30%, Lifting 35 lb., Carrying 35 lb., Pushing 0 ft‑lb., Pulling 0 ft‑lb., Climbing/O Balancing. Handling tasks such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling.

As of the date of posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $22 per hour, with compensation depending on experience, education, key skills, geographic location, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity.
