WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full‑time Ports and Marine Engineer for the following offices:
Irvine, San Diego, San Francisco‑CA, Miami‑FL, Portland‑OR, Seattle‑WA, Houston‑TX. The position involves working with our Ports and Maritime Team in a growing organization that meets client objectives and solves challenges.

Our Maritime group comprises highly motivated analysts, planners, and maritime civil and structural engineers working in several key locations across the U.S. and internationally. Major clients include port authorities, the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Coast Guard, terminal operators, contractors, and private entities.

• Perform civil/structural design for marine and upland components under supervision of senior ports and marine engineers
• Prepare technical written communications in the form of memoranda and reports
• Support managers in creating plans, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates in accordance with client requirements
• Work in a team to ensure the work product meets scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements
• Perform design calculations in support of broader engineering activities
• Work with cross‑functional teams in executing project work
• Assist with work‑plan preparation and coordination of site work and code compliance
• Complete training on assigned tasks
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• 3‑5 years of relevant post‑education experience
• Familiarity with marine, port, and civil/structural engineering principles, practices, processes, design/build, and application to project work‑related issues
• Familiar with relevant marine, port, and coastal construction codes, regulations, and compliance practices
• Analytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non‑engineering audience
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, relevant engineering software, spreadsheets, and other tools
• Experience with discipline‑specific design software (i.e., AutoCAD, Revit)
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
• Occasional travel may be required depending on project‑specific requirements

• Engineer in Training certification
• Prior design experience
• Member of and/or active participation in local professional practice organizations
• Previous experience in design of marine upland facilities
• Field investigation and/or construction support experience
• Hands‑on design experience
• Additional positions available for individuals holding a commercial dive license (ADCI or DCBC) in addition to the above qualifications
