Geologist 2 - Environmental Services Team
Location: Irvine, California
Job Description: CDM Smith is looking for a Geologist to join our Environmental Services Team in Irvine, CA. Under direct supervision, performs basic to moderate complexity geologic/ seismic evaluations/fault rupture hazard and slope stability investigations/ hydrogeologic analysis (aquifer test analysis; geochemical analysis; geotechnical analysis; contaminant transport analysis etc.) in both surface and subsurface geologic conditions pertaining to water supply, contaminant and/or geotechnical assessments.
Activities may include well geologic logging, water sampling, surface geological mapping, aquifer testing and/or soils characterization and data compilation and evaluation. Prepares cross sections, isoconcentration maps, and/or QA/QC analysis. Develops draft evaluations and calculations for compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all assessments. Contributes to firm's TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc.
Submits technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals. Attends conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff. Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline. 1 year of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Skills and Abilities: Intermediate Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices. Basic knowledge of scientific methods and processes. Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.). Good written and verbal communications skills.
Pay Range Minimum: $64,189
Pay Range Maximum: $105,934
Working Location Options: Successful candidate will be required to work in office and field locations as needed.
Driver's License Requirements: An appropriate and valid driver's license is required.
