Rivian seeks a Director of Procurement to lead the Chassis, Body Structures, and Raw Materials categories, covering Body-in-white, closures, chassis dynamics, chassis structures and metals, liquids, and resins. This role develops and executes sourcing strategies, manages supplier relationships, and ensures timely and cost-effective delivery of components and materials essential for Rivian vehicle programs. The successful candidate will be a strategic leader with a deep understanding of the automotive supply chain, particularly in EV components and raw materials, partnering with cross‑functional leadership to bring the next generation of Rivian vehicles to reality in Illinois and our new facility under construction in Georgia.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement comprehensive sourcing strategies for chassis, body, structures, and raw materials.
- Lead supplier identification, evaluation, selection, and negotiation processes to secure optimal terms, quality, and delivery.
- Manage and cultivate strong relationships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration and driving continuous improvement.
- Oversee contract management, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions and mitigating supply chain risks.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing, value engineering, and negotiation.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure seamless integration of components and materials into production.
- Monitor market trends, raw material pricing, and supplier performance to proactively address potential challenges and opportunities.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high‑performing team of procurement professionals.
- Ensure all procurement activities adhere to company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain management with significant focus on chassis, body, structures or raw materials within automotive or electric vehicle industry.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful sourcing strategies and achieving cost savings.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Deep understanding of automotive manufacturing processes and supply chain complexities.
Salary Range for California Based Applicants: $150,000 - $215,500 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law)
