Jacobs invites transportation engineers and planners to contribute to large‑scale infrastructure projects through design, analysis, planning, and project management support. The role is entry‑level and supports a geographic team of civil, structural, and transportation specialists.
Base Pay Range$70,000.00/yr – $95,000.00/yr
ResponsibilitiesThe engineering team will be involved in a wide range of challenging projects across our transportation sectors. You’ll be accountable for various engineering design tasks and will support our Project Management team. Potential responsibilities may include conducting site investigations, performing engineering calculations, developing design drawings using CAD software, assisting in the preparation of technical specifications, and contributing to environmental impact assessments.
You might work on tasks such as roadway alignment design, traffic signal timing, bridge structural analysis, or transit system capacity studies. You’ll be surrounded by expert mentorship from Professional Engineers and will have plenty of opportunities to develop your skills and thrive in your new career.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation/Urban Planning, or related engineering fields
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within a year of hire
- Familiarity with CADD/Design software (preferably AutoCAD/Micro Station/Open Roads/Geopak)
- Strong self‑motivation, problem‑solving, and team‑oriented work practices with excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and multitasking ability
- Authorization to work within the United States without the need for sponsorship, now or in the future
- Previous internship or project experience in transportation planning or engineering, including conducting traffic impact studies, preparing preliminary engineering reports for roadway and transit infrastructure projects, evaluating transportation system efficiency, and/or analyzing traffic flow patterns and multimodal networks
