State Income Tax Manager position ation:

The State Income Tax Manager will provide tax consulting, planning, and compliance services to a diverse range of clients operating in various sectors. The role involves applying knowledge to a wide range of tax areas and processes, devising strategic outcomes for complex issues, with strong mentorship and training opportunities available.
Responsibilities- Oversee state-level tax projects, including compliance and related research.
- Lead and direct a team in managing state tax compliance and advisory services for clients.
- Provide complex tax review, research, planning, and consulting services to diverse clients, including federal and state tax regulations.
- Lead or assist with various tax planning, research, and special projects.
- Prepare and review quarterly and annual state income tax provisions.
- Model various state income tax benefits and consequences using Excel, Power BI, or Alteryx.
- Write tax technical memos to articulate issues, conclusions, and analyses on state tax topics.
- Develop and mentor staff and seniors to create a collaborative team environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related discipline; approximately six years of related experience.
- High proficiency in state income tax codes, regulations, and procedures.
- Proven track record in a professional services or tax organization.
- Technical writing and research experience in a tax context.
- Ability to analyze client data, provide guidance, and make recommendations to engagement teams.
- Ability to prioritize multiple complex projects.
- Strong influencing skills and ability to challenge existing processes.
- Willingness to travel as needed and comfortable in a hybrid environment.
- CPA qualification (achieved or partially achieved), membership in the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, or eligibility to sit for or be a member of a state bar.
