Position Overview

The Program Financial Specialist I supports financial operations for public entity insurance programs, collaborating closely with internal underwriting and account teams. This role helps ensure accurate financial documentation, facilitates program quoting, and contributes to the overall administration of public-sector employee benefits programs and risk pools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the new business quoting workflow in partnership with Underwriting for all program-related coverages.
  • Review proposal and prospect data to ensure submissions meet both carrier guidelines and client expectations before being presented to governing authorities.
  • Manage end-to-end processing of new business quotes and plan modification requests, working directly with carriers to resolve inconsistencies or data issues.
  • Serve as a point of contact between underwriting teams and program oversight groups to clarify outstanding questions and facilitate timely resolutions.
Rate & Data Management
  • Validate rating components and calculations before client delivery to maintain accuracy and compliance.
  • Oversee the annual renewal letter process, which includes drafting, configuring templates, verifying rates, testing outputs, and managing distribution timelines.
  • Maintain and update financial databases, rate grids, and other program financial tools within designated systems.
  • Deliver approved quotes and plan adjustments to account service teams and support them in interpreting financial details as needed.
Operational Excellence
  • Uphold data integrity by entering and maintaining complete and accurate information within agency systems.
  • Communicate program financial data clearly to internal teams to support client service efforts.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support program and financial functions.
Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related discipline required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience
  • Prior experience in a related financial, insurance, or analytical role preferred.
  • Must satisfy required continuing education obligations for license renewal.
Licensing
  • Ability to obtain an insurance license within 90 days of hire required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong comprehension of financial concepts, procedures, and their application to business transactions.
  • Understanding of laws and regulations governing insurance operations.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities tailored to different audiences.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Skilled in analyzing, consolidating, and interpreting financial data.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within team environments.
