The incumbent will perform a wide variety of neurodiagnostic studies, including conventional nerve conduction studies, repetitive nerve stimulation, cranial nerve stimulation and autonomic nerve testing. The role involves assisting physicians in specialized neurodiagnostic studies in the laboratory, at the bedside of patients admitted to the hospital, and at satellite offices. The incumbent will take medical histories as they relate to neurological diagnosis, prepare and position patients for electrodiagnostic examinations (including electromyography), maintain rooms, calibrate equipment, stock and order supplies, and perform clerical duties related to patient records and billing documentation.
The incumbent will schedule patients for electrodiagnostic testing in the Electronic Medical Records system.
- Perform a wide variety of neurodiagnostic studies, including conventional nerve conduction studies, repetitive nerve stimulation, cranial nerve stimulation and autonomic nerve testing.
- Assist physicians in specialized neurodiagnostic studies in the laboratory, at the bedside, and in satellite offices.
- Obtain medical histories related to neurological diagnoses; prepare and position patients for electrodiagnostic examinations, including electromyography.
- Maintain exam rooms and calibrate equipment; stock and order supplies.
- Perform clerical duties related to patient records and billing documentation.
- Aid the medical staff as directed by the manager; schedule patients for testing in the EMR system.
- Required Qualifications:
Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability to perform duties; demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job. - Must be eligible to take the EEG Exam for ABRET credentials (be a student or graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited END program, OR an associate’s degree plus one year END experience, OR at least three years END experience).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Current BLS certification required by time of hire.
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
- Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms.
- Experience with or willingness to learn intraoperative nerve monitoring (IONM).
- Experience performing all phases of neurodiagnostic testing.
