This full‑time position on the evening shift (2:00 pm – 10:30 pm) supports the Clinical Pathology department. The role reports to the Clinical Laboratory Manager and may require weekend coverage. Responsibilities include specimen processing, phlebotomy, mentoring new staff, resolving workflow issues, and assisting with procedure development.
Responsibilities- Perform high‑volume specimen processing, including labeling, centrifugation, routing, and preparation for in‑house and send‑out testing.
- Draw blood from patients and donors using appropriate techniques, observing safety and following established procedures.
- Collect, label, and transport specimens, ensuring accuracy and proper handling across all specimen types.
- Troubleshoot and document specimen and workflow issues; maintain logs such as temperature records.
- Support daily operations by greeting patients, processing lab orders, assisting with staff assignments, and mentoring new team members.
- Collaborate with team members to meet departmental goals, provide weekend oversight as needed, and contribute to special projects and scheduling.
- High School or equivalent (GED)
- Three to five years of experience as a competent phlebotomist
- Experience in specimen processing
- California phlebotomy technician license
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association
$27.07/hr – $33.84/hr – $40.60/hr for applicants with less than 3 years of experience: $24.83/hr – $31.04/hr – $37.24/hr.
