HR Manager, HR Generalist / Talent Management, Recruiter / Talent Acquisition, Regulatory Compliance Specialist
BY Recruiting is working with an established, privately held industrial manufacturer to hire an HR Manager
. The company has a long history in its industry and about 150 U.S. employees across its Southern California headquarters and a second manufacturing site out of state.
The company is moving from an administrative HR function to a strategic, traditional HR model. The groundwork is already in place, and the next HR Manager will build on it. This is a chance to shape the HR function during a period of organizational change, push for resources, and influence practices and culture across the company.
This role suits a builder. Many managers are long-tenured and used to the way things have always been done. You'll need the confidence to hold your ground, earn trust, and keep moving changes forward.
What You'll Do- Oversee HR for both U.S. sites: the California headquarters and a growing manufacturing site in another state.
- Lead a small HR team and partner with site managers and local site staff.
- Report to the CFO and work directly with the CEO and the executive team.
- Handle employee relations, including investigations and sensitive matters.
- Own benefits administration, workers' compensation, leaves and accommodations, and compliance with California and multi-state employment law.
- Manage employee visa and immigration cases.
- Build out HR policies, processes, and programs as the function matures.
- Champion employee activities, engagement, and culture initiatives.
- Plan HR support for the second site as it grows.
- Progressive HR experience, including time as an HR Manager or HR leader. Ideally 10+ years in HR, with 5+ years in leadership.
- Resilience under pushback. You can champion HR changes with managers who are used to the status quo, and see them through.
- Broad, hands-on generalist experience in employee relations, benefits, workers' compensation, compliance, and policy development.
- Experience with an HRIS or payroll platform.
- Strong judgment, discretion, and communication skills, with comfort advising senior leaders.
- Manufacturing or industrial experience, especially with workers' compensation and site growth.
- A bachelor's degree in HR or Business Administration, or an MBA. Equivalent experience counts.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to the second site.
- On-site, Monday through Friday, standard business hours.
- Full-time, exempt.
- Base salary of $120,000 to $130,000, depending on experience.
- Benefits after the introductory period: 100% company-paid employee health coverage, 401(k) match, paid holidays, and paid sick days.
- Three interview rounds with the HR team and executive leadership.
