Technical Program Manager, Forward Deployed Engineering

A technical program manager for a forward deployed engineering team usually coordinates engineers who work directly with customers to deploy and tune models in production. Strong candidates bring a mix of technical fluency in machine learning infrastructure, program discipline across many parallel customer engagements, and clear communication between engineering, sales and customers. At a cloud inference company, that means keeping deployments of open source and custom models moving on schedule and surfacing risks early.

AI shifts much of the routine coordination work, such as status tracking and documentation, toward automation, so the program manager spends more time on judgment calls, tradeoffs and unblocking people. Model deployment keeps changing fast, so the role leans on translating messy customer needs into clear engineering plans. The human parts, building trust with customers and engineers and making decisions with incomplete information, stay central.

This role builds hands on familiarity with how AI models are served, scaled and tuned in production, and with the tooling around inference. Experience with model deployment workflows, evaluation and monitoring, or developer platforms transfers well. A practical way to build it is to run open source models end to end and learn where deployments break.
