Individual contributor responsible for the overall management, business development, analysis and monitoring of a book of business of the highest complexity in Cyber Insurance. Recognized as the most senior level technical expert in an underwriting specialty, you work with senior management within the broadest limits of authority, requiring the highest degree of technical complexity and coordination. You may have national or company‑wide scope of responsibility in the specialty area.
JOB DESCRIPTIONEssential Duties & Responsibilities
- Work with senior management on the most complex underwriting risks, employing advanced diagnostic and systematic analysis to assess acceptability and develop specialized endorsement language.
- Determine appropriate pricing for the most complex risks in your book of business based on financial and competitive analysis in line with compliance requirements.
- Participate with senior management in the development and implementation of underwriting policy, marketing and business strategy.
- Interpret corporate strategies and initiatives to tailor the company’s approach based on your assigned territory, building consensus within the organization for such an approach.
- Analyze quality, quantity, and profitability of the most complex risks underwritten, and present reports to senior management.
- Market products and services through agencies or the brokerage community and make field visits.
- Develop and maintain agency and/or broker relationships, especially with the largest key customers in your territory, to ensure positive and profitable outcomes on the most complex, high‑risk business.
- Keep current on state/territory issues and regulations, industry activity and trends. May represent the company in industry trade groups and freely share knowledge and expertise with others.
- Mentor and guide less experienced underwriters and assist in the development of underwriting training.
- Take responsibility for special underwriting projects and presentations.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities- The highest level of technical and product‑specific expertise, underwriting skill, and knowledge of insurance and underwriting principles, practices and procedures.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of internal and external business partners.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Ability to deal with ambiguous situations and issues.
- Creativity in resolving unique and challenging business problems.
- Ability to achieve results by taking a proactive, long‑term view of business goals and objectives.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business‑related software.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; professional designations preferred.
- Typically a minimum of ten years of underwriting experience with a proven track record of results.
In certain jurisdictions, CNA is legally required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. In the District of Columbia, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, and Washington, the national base‑pay range for this job level is $97,000 to $189,000 annually. Salary determinations are based on various factors, including but not limited to relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location.
