The Claire Trevor School of the Arts (CTSA) at the University of California, Irvine creates transformative experiences through an interconnected, diverse, and innovative community of artists and scholars. Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the department chair, the department manager plans and directs all administrative functions of the Department of Dance, and other departments in the Claire Trevor School of Arts as needed. Analyzes needs, establishing short and long-range objectives and implements effective organizational planning to meet instructional, research and programmatic goals of the Department. Responsible for the management, strategic planning for and leadership of all administrative activities in the department including fiscal management of the departmental budgets, payroll, academic/staff/student human resources, graduate and undergraduate student affairs, internal controls and risk management.

Oversight of laboratory and studio facilities and the inventories of all departmental space and equipment, as well as their assignment, utilization and safety procedures. As a member of CTSA's Department Managers group, this role provides primary leadership for the Department of Dance and collaborates on cross-department operations to ensure coverage, continuity, and shared services across CTSA. Works within the Department Manager group to support other departments as assigned.

Administratively reports to the Assistant Dean, receives programmatic supervision from the Department Chair, and serves as advisor to the Chair, faculty, staff, and students on a variety of issues.

Qualifications

Required:

* Demonstrated experience using personal computer utilizing databases, networks and software packages. Skill utilizing Financial Aid, SLATE and systems, KFS, UCPath, AP Recruit, AP Review, and Zot Portal systems.

* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently and interact at all levels with faculty, students, and staff, in order to determine and implement methods, procedures and policies that lead to the achievement of overall goals of the Department

* Excellent organizational and staff development skills.

* Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills

* Skill in supervising staff employees, including organizing work flow, delegating responsibility, interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating performance and disciplinary actions.
