The Assistant Fire Marshal, Community Wildfire Mitigation transfer opportunity is an Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) internal recruitment. Only applications from current, qualified OCFA Assistant Fire Marshals will be considered.
RESPONSIBILITIESIncumbents are responsible for supervising and coordinating the day‑to‑day operations of the assigned section. The incumbent will be assigned to the Community Wildfire Mitigation or Prevention Field Services sections.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSAn equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS AT ENTRY- Must be currently employed as a non‑probationary OCFA Assistant Fire Marshal.
- Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License.
Positions in this class typically require balancing, crouching, crawling, climbing, reaching, standing, walking, driving, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
WORKING CONDITIONSIncumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel.

Base salary adjustments effective May 1, 2026: 2.54% base salary adjustment. Employees are eligible for merit salary increases (1 to 4 steps) at their six‑month review date and annually thereafter based upon work performance until step 12 of the salary range is reached.
