Position SummaryOn a production basis, performs medium mechanical assembly work. Variable type of job. Often makes simple decisions but must follow established precedents. Works under general supervision and has some responsibility for work output. Good understanding of products and processes. Able to troubleshoot assembly issues with support from supervision & able to work a variety of tasks.
Responsibilities- Assemble machined parts
- Apply mechanical assembly skills
- Riveting, hydraulics, bonding and torque assembly tasks
- Read blueprints and work instructions
- Perform failure analyses; troubleshoot mechanical failures with support from supervision
- Rework parts to print per instructions
- Able to work on a variety of tasks
- High school diploma or GED and 2 to 6 years related experience and/or training
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization. Ability to communicate in English
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Will be required to interface and relate well with all employees and multiple departments and levels within the Company. Position requires strong teamwork/cooperative abilities, as well as the ability to work independently
- Must be able to use hand tools and be mechanically inclined
- Position involves ability to frequently or constantly exert up to 20 pounds of force and occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force to move/lift objects
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to sit, stand, stoop, kneel, reach, crouch or crawl. Extended hours and overtime occasionally required to meet job requirements.
Must wear back and wrist support and utilize lifting equipment whenever possible - Work area normally subject to non-air conditioning
- Must have the ability to be flexible and deal with changing conditions as required. Shop environment contains hazardous materials, dust, moving equipment, pneumatic equipment, hydraulic equipment, and metal chips from cutting, milling, drilling and turning operations. Employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts
- Pay Range: $18.9/hr to $31.5/hr (California, New York, Washington)
