Base pay range$61.00/hr - $89.00/hr
City of Hope Orange County is transforming cancer treatment by bringing world‑class expertise and specialized care closer to home. Supported by a regional network of care, our 11‑acre academic cancer campus in Irvine is home to City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center, our outpatient cancer center, and Orange County’s only cancer specialty hospital, opening in late 2025. With the opening of the hospital, the full continuum of advanced cancer care—from prevention through survivorship—will be available in Orange County for the first time, eliminating the need to travel for lifesaving treatment.
Seamlessly connected to our outpatient cancer center, the new clinical research hospital will feature 73 inpatient beds, advanced surgical suites, groundbreaking clinical trials, and holistic services such as rehabilitative therapy and spiritual care. This isn’t standard cancer care. This is lifesaving cancer care. This is Hope.
Are you an experienced Medical Surgical nurse looking for an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of cancer patients? Join our team at City of Hope Orange County Cancer Specialty Hospital as a Clinical Nurse III in the Medical Surgical Unit and be part of a groundbreaking team dedicated to providing world‑class, compassionate care to a diverse range of patients.
As a Clinical Nurse III, you will play a vital role in guiding and coordinating care for a diverse range of patients, including those with cardiac, respiratory, sepsis, diabetes, and post‑surgical conditions, many of whom are undergoing chemotherapy and other cancer‑related treatments. You will provide specialized oncology‑focused care, ensuring the highest standards of treatment in accordance with Nursing Department policies and procedures.
This role includes performing comprehensive assessments, monitoring treatment‑related side effects and post‑operative complications, and developing individualized, evidence‑based care plans. You will collaborate closely with physicians, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary teams to support patients throughout active treatment and recovery, directly impacting outcomes and quality of life.
We are looking for passionate, skilled nurses who can think critically, act decisively, and provide compassionate support to patients and families. Your ability to effectively communicate, document, and integrate cultural, psychosocial, and spiritual needs into care plans will be key to delivering exceptional care.
As a successful candidate, you will:- Utilize the nursing process and practice standards as a framework for the management of patient care.
- Assess patient conditions, recognize early signs of complications, and respond effectively.
- Delegate to licensed and unlicensed personnel.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the clinical information system and apply principles to patient documentation.
- Prioritize holistic care, addressing both the physical and emotional needs of the patients.
- Serve as a mentor and role model to new staff members.
- Integrate and practice according to the City of Hope Professional Practice Model to deliver care service excellence.
- In alignment with City of Hope mission and values, the Division of Nursing and Patient Care Services vision and mission, and with continuous focus on the patient, family and community, carry out the nursing process, coordinate interdisciplinary care planning, document according to standards, including validation of the patient and caregiver’s understanding of the plan of care and expected outcomes.

- Prior oncology experience is needed.
- Shift: Days.
- This position is also eligible for a weekend differential up to $15.60/hr.
- Multiple positions available.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 3 – 5 years related experience.
- Current CA Registered Nurse License.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association.
- ONS chemotherapy/immunotherapy certification.
