Salary: $21.49 - $24.25 / hr

Assist the Food Services Manager in carrying out the day-to-day operation of the Department, including preparing and serving food, dish room operations, cleaning, and other functions as required.

• Hold a valid Safe Food Handlers Certificate
• Successful completion of a Food Service Worker training program from an accredited institution; or have completed an apprenticeship program in the trade of Cook, Institutional Cook or Assistant Cook, or hold a post-secondary diploma or degree in food and nutrition management/related field
• If no applicants have the FSW Training Program as described above, the following may be considered in a conditional offer:
• Proof of enrolment in a Food Service Worker training program from an accredited institution
• Proof of enrolment in post-secondary education (applies to seasonal, casual and part-time employees only)
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Knowledge of institutional food service, therapeutic diets and safe food handling
• Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with OHSA
• Ability to work in a busy environment with minimal supervision and as a team member
• Ability to read, write and understand instructions, menus and production sheets
• Ability to operate food service equipment
• Ability to perform work requiring continuous reaching, handling and fingering of objects and materials
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with colleagues
• Ability to function in a fast-paced healthcare environment with excellent organizational and time management skills, including multitasking and prioritization
• Dependable with a verifiable acceptable attendance record
