Position Description

The Neutrino Group at UC Irvine invites applications for a postdoctoral research position. The successful candidate will contribute to hardware development, software development, and data analysis within the DUNE and NOvA experiments and will work primarily with Professor Jianming Bian.

• Construction and assembly of DUNE’s liquid‑argon purity‑monitoring system
• DUNE cold‑electronics testing and assembly
• R&D for future neutrino detectors, with preferred experience in LArTPC technology and SiPM‑based detectors
• Contribute to AI/ML efforts: transformer‑based reconstruction, large‑language‑model development, and HPC‑parallelized inference
• Analysis of early DUNE data and full NOvA data‑set analysis
• Travel to Fermilab, CERN, and SURF

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in experimental particle physics (or a related field)
