Firmware Engineer – Broadcom

Join Broadcom’s Physical Layer Products (PLP) group, a world‑class team that designs and supports optical PHY chips used in millions of homes and businesses worldwide. The Firmware Engineer designs, implements, and verifies low‑level firmware modules, middleware, sample applications, and embedded diagnostics for PLP devices.

• Architect, design, develop, and maintain firmware for new and legacy embedded products.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional analog and digital hardware teams.
• Provide leadership around coding standards, architecture governance, design patterns, and code hygiene.
• Troubleshoot firmware (C/ARM Assembly) and support debugging of embedded systems.
• Serve as an ambassador for Broadcom, recruiting and motivating top talent.

• Bachelors or Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• 8+ years of embedded firmware development experience on ARM targets.
• Proficiency in C, ARM Assembly, real‑time systems, and multi‑threading.
• Experience with multiprocessor programming, inter‑processor communication, and driver development (MDIO, I2C, SPI).
• Strong debugging, documentation, and communication skills.
• Understanding of GPL/LGPL licensing restrictions is a plus.

Annual base salary range $108,000 – $172,800. Eligible for discretionary annual bonus, equity, 401(k) with company match, ESPP, medical/dental/vision, paid holidays, vacation, and Paid Family Leave.
