As we develop a fully integrated experience in our R1 and future vehicle lines, we need Software Engineers to help raise bar for mission critical in-vehicle applications. • Develop best-in-class in applications for in vehicle user experience, with a focus on mission critical user interfaces.
• Create progressive, intuitive, and reliable applications for the Rivian in-vehicle experience.
• Collaborate with the UX/UI Team and Studio Team to realize beautiful, cutting-edge UI and seamless integration with 2D and 3D content.
• Test the in-vehicle experience in the lab and in Rivian prototype vehicles.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues found during testing.
• Help drive research into new technologies and interfaces.
• Collaborate with other divisions in understanding and sharing technology roadmaps, portfolios, and intellectual property.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years’ experience with software development life cycle experience, from requirements gathering through to implementation and maintenance.
• 6+ years’ experience with modern object-oriented languages: C++ and/or Rust.
• Knowledge of the Functional Safety requirements, regulatory compliance, and best practices for automotive software development.
• Experience with Java/Kotlin are a plus.
• Experience with Android application frameworks is a plus.
• Deep understanding of user-friendly, immersive, reactive user interface development.
• Proficiency in authoring animations and interactive experiences is a plus.
• Experience with Qt framework is a plus.

Salary Range for Palo Alto Based Applicants: 186,000 USD to 232,000 USD (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Salary Range for Irvine Based Applicants: 171,000 USD to 213,000 USD (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Summary:

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time and part-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Full Time Employee coverage is effective on the first day of employment. Part-Time employee coverage is effective the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
