We're working with a High-Growth Commercial Consumer Services Firm. They are seeking a Strategically driven professional within their Corporate team to be a lead within the Company. This role is a Director of Working Capital to join the Accounting team and report to the Chief Accounting Officer. This leader will own day-to-day working capital operations across Order-to-Cash (Accounts Receivable, invoicing, collections) and Procure-to-Pay (Accounts Payable and payment operations), with additional responsibility for Travel & Expense (T&E).
This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who can stabilize execution while driving process improvement. A key near-term priority is to clean up a broken invoicing process—tightening workflows, controls, and cross-functional handoffs to improve billing accuracy and accelerate cash collection.
Responsibilities- Lead working capital strategy and execution across AR and AP, ensuring scalable, controlled processes.
- Manage and develop an AR Manager and an AP Manager; set priorities, expectations, and performance metrics.
- Own and improve the invoicing process, including:
- Diagnosing root causes (process gaps, system limitations, data issues, unclear approvals/ownership)
- Redesigning workflows to reduce errors, rework, and billing delays
- Improving invoice accuracy, timeliness, and cash application where applicable
- Drive AR performance: collections cadence, dispute resolution, aging management, and cash forecasting inputs.
- Oversee Procure-to-Pay execution: invoice intake, matching/approvals, payment runs, vendor issue resolution, and cycle-time improvement.
- Own/oversee T&E administration, including policy compliance and process efficiency.
- Establish KPIs and operating routines (e.g., DSO, past due %, unapplied cash, billing cycle time, AP aging, vendor cycle time).
- Partner cross-functionally (Finance/FP&A, Operations, Sales, Procurement, Systems/IT) to improve upstream inputs that affect billing and payables.
- Ensure appropriate documentation, controls, and compliance for core processes.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is a must
- 12+ years accounting experience out of Public Accounting and Manufacturing, Service Companies, or Distributions Industry also a plus
- CPA is preferred
- Experience leading working capital operations within Accounting/Finance, with strong exposure to both AR and AP.
- Proven people leadership experience, ideally managing leaders (e.g., managers/supervisors).
- Experience with Order-to-Cash and Procure-to-Pay best practices, controls, and metrics.
- Very Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, Technical Accounting, and Revenue Recognition is a plus
