Summary
Balfour Beatty Construction seeks a Safety, Health & Environmental Manager to work for our Special Projects Group in Dallas, TX
. This position is responsible for implementing the company’s safety and loss prevention programs. It also ensures that job-site employees and subcontractors are trained in safety protocols, including federal and state regulations, to prevent accidents and injuries. All work is local, with no overnight travel involved.
Essential Functions
Coordinate and facilitate safety training and incentive programs, maintain statistical information on costs and frequency, perform accident investigations, and manage safety personnel and consultants. Specific tasks include:
- Conducting jobsite visits and safety audits as dictated by the project
- Preparing project safety start-up packets, including new-hire, compliance, safety, and workers' compensation materials
- Reviewing and assisting superintendents with project-specific safety plans
- Managing MSDS books to ensure on-site availability of required information
- Providing resources and solutions for environmental and hazardous material issues
- Tracking safety training for project personnel
- Ensuring supervisors have up-to-date first aid certifications
- Maintaining site safety records
- Overseeing the site's drug testing program
- Representing the company at safety meetings and associations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Safety & Environmental Health or Construction Management/Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of commercial construction safety experience
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience
- Proficiency with personal computers and communication tools (email, internet, Microsoft Office)
- OSHA 30-hour certification required

- Experience in commercial construction safety
