Summary:
The Program Director System Simulation Education is a visionary leader responsible for developing, implementing, and standardizing simulation-based curriculum across CHRISTUS Health in conjunction with other leaders of the CHRISTUS Simulation Institute. This role focuses on ensuring consistency, quality, and evidence-based best practices in simulation education throughout the system. The Program Director will collaborate with multidisciplinary stakeholders to establish a unified framework for simulation training that enhances clinical competency, patient safety, and interprofessional collaboration.
A strong background in curriculum design, educational research, and simulation-based instruction is essential.

- In partnership with the System Medical Director for Simulation, the Program Director leads the design, development, and implementation of a standardized simulation curriculum aligned with system-wide clinical priorities and competency frameworks.
- Collaborates with clinical, academic, and simulation leaders to develop consistent learning objectives, scenarios, and assessment tools across ministries and learner levels.
- Creates a repository of validated simulation cases and curricular materials for system-wide use.
- Establishes processes for curriculum review, revision, and alignment with accreditation and regulatory standards.
- Develops scalable instructional models for simulation delivery across inpatient, outpatient, and virtual platforms.
- Hires, trains, disciplines, mentors, supports, manages, supervises, and develops direct reports as applicable.
- Designs evaluation tools focused on outcome-based metrics, with attention to validity, reliability, and alignment with learning objectives.
- Analyzes educational outcomes to inform curricular improvements and drive educational excellence.
- Ensures consistent documentation and data collection across sites for reporting and benchmarking.
- Trains and mentors faculty in simulation-based pedagogy, debriefing techniques, and curriculum delivery.
- Leads faculty development initiatives to promote adoption of standardized practices.
- Works with other System Education leaders in the devepment of onboarding and competency programs for new simulation instructors.
- Provides oversight for scheduling and coordination of simulation activities, ensuring alignment with the standardized curriculum.
- Maintains records of simulation activity, instructor engagement, and learner participation to support compliance and accreditation.
- Creates and oversees the department's operational processes, procedures, policies, forms, and workflows.
- This role requires a strong emphasis on fostering partnerships and collaboration across departments to ensure compliance and standardization in operations.
- Reviews procurement, business affairs, and supply chain processes and transactions.
- Leads and supports research initiatives focused on simulation curriculum effectiveness and innovation.
- Co-authors publications and presents findings at national and international simulation forums.
- Develops grant proposals to support curriculum development and program sustainability.
- Serves as the system subject matter expert for simulation curriculum.
- Facilitates communication across ministries to promote a unified approach to simulation education.
- Leads marketing and promotional strategies to raise awareness of simulation initiatives and curriculum availability.
- Assists with the development of strategic operational action plans both internally and institutionally.
- This role demands a high level of service commitment and the ability to represent the department in various operational matters, ensuring a collaborative and data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Prepares contractual agreements and associated budgets, ensuring timely submission of proposals or agreements.
- Provides strategic consultation and guidance to leadership on operational issues and evaluate business proposals.
- Master's degree in healthcare education, simulation, nursing, instructional design, or related field required.
- 5+ years of experience in healthcare simulation, with demonstrated success in curriculum development and faculty training, required.
- Experience developing and implementing system-wide educational strategies.
- Familiarity with simulation technologies and scenario development platforms.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and project management skills.
- Track record of scholarly work and/or grant writing in simulation or healthcare education preferred.
