PURPOSE:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in core academic subjects to help them fulfill their potential for growth. Enable students to develop competencies for success in a global society. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Valid Texas teaching certificate for the subject/level assigned
- Completion of Texas Reading Academy required for Elementary
- ESL Supplemental Certification preferred
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Fluent with technology use and actively integrates technology to enhance student learning
At least one year of student teaching or approved internship
Instructional Strategies MAJORRESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Develop and implement curriculum plans with evidence of preparation.
- Present subject matter according to TEA, board policies, and regulations.
- Use data to plan and implement instructional strategies accommodating individual needs.
- Collaborate with special education staff to modify curricula per IEPs.
- Plan and supervise assignments for aides and volunteers.
- Use technology to enhance teaching and learning.
- Assist students in improving study methods and habits.
- Monitor achievement through assessments.
- Participate in extracurricular activities and serve as a role model.
- Create a conducive learning environment.
- Manage student behavior per policies and IEPs.
- Ensure safety and assist in selecting instructional materials.
- Maintain open communication with students and parents.
- Maintain professionalism with staff and community.
- Use clear and accurate communication skills.
- Stay current in content area and instructional strategies.
- Participate in professional development.
- Show initiative in professional improvement.
- Follow regulations and policies.
- Maintain records and reports.
- Attend meetings and serve on committees.
- Behave professionally and ethically.
- Comply with district policies and handbook.
Mental and Physical Demands: Effective communication, emotional control, reasoning, problem-solving, and occasional travel. Prolonged sitting, standing, kneeling, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, walking, computer work, and lifting are required. Exposure to temperature variations and safety considerations are noted.
