Job Description

IRVING INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT

Position: Teacher

WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt

Reports To: Campus Principal

Funding Source: Local

Duty Days: 187 days

Pay Grade: Teacher Salary

Date Revised: February 2025

Primary Purpose

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in core academic subjects to help them fulfill their potential and develop skills for success in a global society.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate for the assigned subject/level
  • Completion of Texas Reading Academy (Elementary)
  • ESL Supplemental Certification (preferred)
Knowledge and Skills
  • Competency in core academic subjects
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct and manage student behavior
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency with technology and integration into teaching
Experience

At least one year of student teaching or approved internship

Major Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement curriculum plans
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines
  • Use data to plan and adapt instruction
  • Collaborate with staff and modify curricula for special needs
  • Supervise teacher aide(s) and volunteers
  • Utilize technology to enhance learning

  • Manage student behavior

Working Conditions

Must communicate effectively, handle stress, interpret procedures, and occasionally travel. Physical demands include prolonged sitting, standing, and light lifting. Work environment includes indoor and outdoor settings, with safety precautions observed.

This is an in-person position. Work from home is not permitted unless approved by the Superintendent.
