Irving Public Library is seeking an innovative, creative, and engaging customer service‑oriented part‑time librarian to assist with children’s programming. The role involves developing a full range of library services, programs and activities for children, families and caregivers, overseeing the work of assigned staff, and staffing the information and circulation desks as needed. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, organized, and enjoy working with children and families, and will develop and conduct original, vibrant programming that encourages reading and creative thinking.
Responsibilities- Develop and deliver children’s library programs and activities.
- Oversee assigned staff and manage library service operations.
- Staff information and circulation desks.
- Assist with outreach and community engagement.
- Master of Library Science from an American Library Association‑accredited program (or equivalent professional experience).
- At least one year of professional library or related experience.
- Strong knowledge and appreciation of children’s literature.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are beneficial.
- Strong desire and experience working with children.
- Ability to work weekend and evening hours.
Pay Grade: GG18 / Full Pay Range $26.72 – $37.67 per hour.
