Mechanical Drafting Designer

Gas Cleaning Technologies LLC (GCT) is a process and environmental consulting firm located in Las Colinas/Irving Texas within the DFW metroplex area. We serve the metallurgical processing industries, including steel, copper, and nickel within the US and internationally. We specialize in evaluating, designing, and retrofitting off-gas handling systems and fugitive emission control, bulk material handling and more. GCT serves clients across the globe from four locations;
Irving, TX;
Chicago, IL;
Vancouver, BC; and Singapore. This open position will be for the Dallas or Chicago office.

GCT is actively searching for an Intermediate to Mechanical Drafting and/or Piping Designer for full-time employment.

• 5-10 years of work experience in mechanical and/or piping design (flexible for recent technical college graduates).
• Associate’s degree in mechanical, piping, and/or structural drafting/design engineering technology.
• Basic understanding of drafting and design layout principles.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD 3D, Autodesk Inventor 3D and/or Solid Works, and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
• Experience and knowledge in the following work areas helpful but not required:
  Knowledge and understanding of cloud point and laser scanning data with the ability to translate and convert to engineering working drawings.

• Prepare and generate 2D general arrangements, plans, sections, details, preliminary sketches, bill of materials, and 3D models from 3D software programs.
• Work closely with engineers and designers to communicate, understand, and interpret detailed design ideas and sketches.
• Ensure compliance with design requirements, tolerances, specifications, and verify the accuracy of drawings.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation for drawings, including revisions, changes, and related information.
• Some travel is required. Occasional site work will involve assisting engineers with field investigations, sketches, measurements, and taking photos.
