Job DescriptionReady to flex your engineering muscles and create some seriously cool products? As our Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll be the wizard behind the curtain, ensuring our gadgets and gizmos are top‑notch, customer‑approved, and ready to take over the world (or at least the market)!
Responsibilities- Unleash your inner inventor! Design new products and give existing ones a fabulous makeover to meet customer needs and specifications. It’s like extreme makeover: product edition!
- Be the go‑to guru for all things technical. Provide support to internal departments and select customers, because knowledge is power, and you’re practically a superhero!
- Channel your inner detective to review drawings and documentation. Make sure they’re up to snuff with project specs and company policies. No detail escapes your eagle eyes!
- Become the master of change with Engineering Change Release Notifications (ECN’s). It’s like being a DJ, but for engineering — you’re dropping the hottest updates!
- Craft and update product design guidelines, customer standards, and analytical reports. Think of it as writing the rulebook for awesome engineering!
- Put on your thinking cap and brainstorm solutions to product‑related problems. Present your eureka moments to the Engineering Manager — you’re basically the Sherlock Holmes of engineering!
- Be a safety superstar! Participate in all of Smiths Interconnect’s EHS programs, policies, procedures, and training requirements. Safety first, then engineering brilliance!
- Embrace the element of surprise with other duties as assigned. It’s like a box of chocolates — you never know what you’re gonna get!
- Master the art of schedule Tetris. Flexibility is your middle name!
- Pack your bags for adventure! Up to 20% travel may be required. It’s like being James Bond, but with more engineering and fewer explosions (hopefully).
- A shiny Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical Design preferred). It’s like your golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s factory, but for cool gadgets!
- 2+ years of experience in the wild world of engineering. We’re talking real‑life XP points here!
- A Jedi‑like knowledge of engineering mechanics, physics, and manufacturing methods. May the force of science be with you!
- Solid Works 3D modeling skills that would make Tony Stark jealous. Equivalent software skills are cool too!
- GD&T and ANSI/ASME standards? You know them like the back of your hand (or like your favorite meme collection).
- Finite Element Analysis skills (structural, thermal & fluid) are a big plus. It’s like being able to see The Matrix, but for engineering!
- Decision‑making skills sharper than a lightsaber and judgment more accurate than a Stormtrooper’s aim (which isn’t hard, but you get the point).
- Communication skills so good, you could explain quantum physics to a golden retriever (written and verbal).
- Interpersonal skills that would make you the life of any engineering party. You’re a team player with a dash of solo artist!
- Attention to detail that would impress Sherlock Holmes. You’re practically a detective, but for engineering puzzles!
- Ability to…
