The Junior Mechanical System Designer will develop and implement complex baggage handling solutions by providing engineering analysis and design expertise to solve existing and future baggage handling challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Perform leading‑edge mechanical design and conceptualization as part of the Airport Logistics System Design Team.
- Proactively mitigate potential conflicts and provide effective solutions by applying concepts, techniques and technical knowledge.
- Demonstrate proactive, “out of the box” thinking in applying principles, theories and concepts on complex system design challenges.
- Resolve the most complex technical sales support problems and answer customer requests with detailed product specifications.
- Develop cost‑effective mechanical systems for all bids and proposals, including selection of OEM components, pricing estimates, manpower plans, scheduling activities, phasing, commissioning and test methodologies.
- Lead the design team on proposal deliverables, generating design drawings and conceptual layouts, and assist in customer presentations of proposed solutions.
- Generate CAD design concepts that are technically feasible, construable and meet aggressive schedules with reliable cost considerations.
- Develop technical proposals that include product demonstrations, prototypes and interactive technical discussions with experts, consultants, owners’ representatives and subcontractors.
- Define work scopes for construction trade packages, investigate and respond to subcontractor questions.
- Update technical specifications for products and system solutions and maintain knowledge of third‑party supplied equipment.
- Represent the company in customer‑facing meetings concerning bids and proposals while supporting the sales team.
- Conveyor belt experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Automation and Revit.
- Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project.
- Recognized technical expertise in designing and implementing complex automated baggage handling systems.
- Up to 20% travel required.
- BS/BA in a related discipline or 6+ years of experience in designing, implementing and commissioning large‑scale baggage handling systems.
- Benefits start on day one.
- Starting pay range: $60,000 – $90,000.
