Grid Power Solutions is seeking a DC Systems Design Specialist – EBOS to support the design and takeoff process for the DC side of utility-scale solar projects, from inverter to module. This role involves reviewing plan sets, performing material takeoffs, and collaborating with engineering and procurement to generate accurate BOMs and support project quoting. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and eager to contribute to efficiency improvements in design and process execution.

Responsibilities
  • Perform accurate EBOS takeoffs based on client plan sets and specifications.
  • Analyze layout drawings, single-line diagrams, and component data sheets to calculate quantities and lengths for string conductors, harnesses, IPCs, trunk bus, combiner boxes, and disconnects.
  • Populate and maintain Excel-based takeoff templates and BOM sheets.
  • Identify missing or inconsistent information in plan sets and work with internal teams for clarification.
  • Recommend design or product changes that improve cost-effectiveness or installation efficiency.
  • Maintain organized records of project inputs, outputs, and version history.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvement of internal design tools, templates, and processes.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in solar design, takeoffs, estimating, or related fields.
  • Proficiency with construction plan sets, electrical diagrams, and site layout interpretation.
  • Strong Excel skills, including advanced formulas, structured templates, and BOM formatting.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or PDF markup tools (Bluebeam, Adobe, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of PV system architecture, including source circuits and EBOS components.
  • High attention to detail and process consistency.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with utility-scale or large commercial PV projects.
  • Knowledge of NEC guidelines for wire sizing, ampacity, and voltage drop.
  • Familiarity with kitting, logistics, or packaging solutions.
  • Experience with Power BI, Power Query, or quoting/configuration tools.
Physical Requirements
  • Lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required infrequently.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
