job summary:

Build, design, and operate Enterprise class IP networks supporting mission critical LMR, data, and security systems. Execute engineering tasks involving routing, switching, multicast, security, automation, and performance analysis at a professional level equivalent to Cisco CCIE Enterprise and aligned with Nokia NRS II and Cisco CCNP SP learning objectives.

responsibilities:
  • Configure Cisco/Juniper/Nokia/HPE routers, switches, and firewalls using dynamic routing and multicast routing for radio access networks.
  • Configure routers using LACP/Ether Channel, CDP, LLDP, BFD, UDLD, RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, IS ? IS, BGP, LFA, IGMP, PIM, IP SLA, QoS, IPSec, AAA, DHCP, DNS, NTP, SSH, SNMPv3, SSL/TLS, FHRP (HSRP/VRRP/GLBP), and Syslog.
  • Configure switches using LACP/Ether Channel, STP, VLANs, IGMP, AAA, NTP, SSH, SNMPv3, SSL/TLS, and Syslog.
  • Configure firewalls including RA VPN, Site ? to ? Site VPN, rulesets, AAA, NAT/PAT, NTP, SSH, SNMPv3, SSL/TLS, and Syslog.
  • Calculate bandwidth requirements and tuning parameters for routing protocol convergence.
  • Update Visio diagrams and topology documentation.
  • Test concepts and performance in the network lab.
  • Research Enterprise ? class networking solutions and evaluate new products.
  • Troubleshoot LACP/Ether Channel, FIB/RIB/MFIB/MRIB, VLANs, CDP/LLDP, STP, BFD, UDLD, routing protocols, multicast, IPSec, QoS, and network services. Determine root cause and produce RCA documentation.
  • Perform configuration backups on routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot network monitoring systems.
  • Perform packet captures, build filters, and analyze results using Wireshark.
  • Collect logs and statistics from routers, switches, firewalls, and ATLAS devices.
  • Collect table data for interface statistics, FIB, RIB, MFIB, MRIB, VLAN, CDP, LLDP, STP, BFD, RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, IS ? IS, BGP, PIM, IP SLA, and QoS.
  • Update IPAM records.
  • Configure SPAN/port mirroring and capture configurations.
  • Investigate physical ? layer issues, determine root cause, and produce RCA documentation.
  • Trace L2/L3 paths between endpoints and create Visio diagrams.
  • Develop, coordinate, and perform configuration changes to network hardware and systems.
  • Identify improvement areas and implement enhancements for capacity, scalability, reliability, security, and quality.
  • Maintain accurate network documentation, standards, and change management records.
  • Generate network performance and capacity reports for management.
  • Plan and execute network upgrades, migrations, and expansions.
  • Provide daily operational support for network infrastructure and system health monitoring.
  • Develop and test prototypes and demonstrate functionality based on requirements.
  • Participate in system design planning, peer reviews, approvals, and LMR infrastructure implementation.
  • Provide engineering support to resolve design ? related field and production issues.
  • Maintain strong communication and collaboration across departments.
  • Exhibit professional behavior including leadership, urgency, independent judgment, teamwork, integrity, and creativity.
  • Document work, test plans, and results.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
  • Travel as needed to investigate and resolve product and network issues.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Enterprise required.
  • Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert (CCIE) Enterprise and/or Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert (CCIE) Service provider preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering Technology, or a closely related discipline. Master’s Degree a plus.
  • Knowledge of Engineering methodologies and product development.
  • Experience performing engineering projects in an industrial or educational setting.
  • Ability to acquire skills rapidly in new sophisticated tools, techniques, methods, and technologies.
