Position Summary

The System Operator is responsible for monitoring and coordinating the real-time dispatch of customer power generation facilities and controllable load resources across the U.S.

Essential Job Functions

• Ensure compliance with applicable market and operational rules.
• Coordinate with power plant personnel and regional transmission organizations.
• Interact with Real-Time Traders and Asset Managers to monitor generation surplus or deficit related to market opportunities.
• Utilize strong computer and analytical skills, proficiency with database, spreadsheet, real-time, and internet applications.
• Maintain dependable and reliable attendance.
• Work twelve-hour shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Travel to training seminars several times per year.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Undergraduate degree in an engineering discipline.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Office, database, spreadsheet, real-time, and internet applications.
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and make critical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong customer service, time management, organizational, and communication skills.
