Job SummaryThe Tax Director is a key member of the Corporate Tax Department. This role reports to the Chief Tax Officer and is responsible for all US income tax reporting with respect to the Rousselot business, a global leading market provider of collagen for the food, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical and technical industries. The Tax Director will also lead and/or assist with tax reporting matters of other Darling businesses.
In this position, you will focus on federal and state income tax compliance, planning, and reporting matters of the Company. The candidate for this role must be experienced in the preparation of US income tax provision (ASC 740), accounting for uncertain tax positions, and accounting for the impacts of various tax issues.
- Oversee the preparation of the company's quarterly and annual tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740, including FIN 48 and valuation allowance analyses, with respect to the Rousselot business.
- Manage the domestic tax compliance function of the Rousselot business.
- Oversee the federal and state income tax compliance process for the Rousselot business to ensure that all activities occur in a timely and accurate manner (tax filings calendar, workplan scheduling, etc.)
- Prepare and review detailed work papers to support federal income tax compliance in a timely and accurate manner. Such work papers may include depreciation, intangible property rights, investments, revenue recognition, fringe benefit analyses, employee stock compensation, etc.
- Prepare and review detailed work papers to support state income tax compliance in a timely and accurate manner.
- Participate as a team member with the broader tax team to ensure proper reporting of mergers & acquisitions, cross border transactions, equity transactions, investments, intercompany transactions and a wide variety of other tactical and planning ideas.
- Assist with domestic tax planning ideas and ensure that cost effective ideas are implemented and properly reported in the appropriate tax returns.
- Perform technical research and analysis on a variety of tax issues.
- Help manage automated tax products (e.g., One Source, Alteryx, etc.) to ensure data integrity and ease of use within the tax department.
- Develop, improve, and maintain tax compliance and reporting processes and procedures.
- Handle domestic federal and state audits to resolve tax issues.
- Collaborate with accounting group and other departments to obtain understanding of business decisions and transactions.
- Coordinate and communicate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure the company's tax positions are well supported and documented.
- Monitor, analyze and document tax regulatory and compliance developments and the resulting impact on the Company (OBBBA, CARES, TCJA, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting with CPA (active license) or JD + LLM (active license) or MST
- 15+ prior years of federal and state income tax experience in corporate taxation including tax return preparation and ASC 740 tax accounting.
- At least 10 years at a Big 4 public accounting firm or U.S. based publicly traded corporation.
- At least 8 years of tax accounting (U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS) experience.
